Successful grouting operation is vital to the durability of post-tensioning system. VLM’s experience with grouted post-tensioning tendons showed that a cementitious grout can provide excellent protection to the prestressed tendons. The bond between the concrete and the prestressed steel as well as long term corrosion protection for the prestressed steel depends largely on the hardened cement grout.
Whether it is internal bonded tendons, external tendons or slab tendons, the quality of the grout determines the durability of the post tensioning tendons.
